Northampton Saints today announced that ticket marketplace StubHub has signed a three-year Elite Sponsorship agreement with the club.

In a statement released on the club's website, Saints have announced that the new agreement will see the StubHub logo displayed on the club's playing shirts until at least 2016, supported by a broad package of marketing and activation-focused rights.

StubHub is America's largest ticket marketplace and launched in the UK last year, providing fans with a safe, convenient place to get tickets to the concerts, theatre and sporting events they want to see, and an easy way to sell their tickets when they can't go.

An eBay Inc. company, StubHub works with more than 60 teams in all four major sports in the United States, and since coming into the UK marketplace in March 2012 has established relationships with a prestigious group of sporting organisations and entertainment venues, including The O2, the Lawn Tennis Association, NBA Europe, Everton FC and Tottenham Hotspur.

StubHub's Elite Sponsorship of the Saints means that for the first time Season Ticket Holders will have an independent, secure and simple way to sell on tickets for matches that they cannot attend. The club will not dictate pricing, and StubHub never purchases, prices or sells any tickets itself. Creating a StubHub account is completely free and you only pay a fee if your ticket sells.

Saints chief executive Allan Robson said that this new Elite Sponsorship provided plenty of benefits for the club and supporters alike.

"We are excited by this new Elite Sponsorship deal," he commented. "Aside from the obvious financial and profile benefits that come from being associated with a global company like StubHub, this agreement will also help add value to what we can offer our supporters.

"In the past, when Season Ticket Holders have not been able to get to a game, they have either seen their ticket go to waste or had to come through the club's Ticket Office to exchange it for another match, and even then only if they had paid to have a Flexi-Season Ticket package.

"This agreement with StubHub will mean that for the first time Season Ticket Holders will be able to sell their tickets on themselves, with all supporters who use the website also being covered by StubHub's comprehensive guarantees and security features.

"We're delighted that StubHub have chosen to become an Elite Sponsor, and we're confident that we will develop an excellent relationship over the next three years and beyond."

Nick Harford, Director of Partnerships, International, at StubHub commented: "After just over a year operating in the UK, we have been fortunate to secure partnerships with some of the UK's leading sports rights holders, alongside global entertainment business AEG, with the aim of providing fans access to the very best in sports, music and live entertainment events.

"We are delighted to be partnering with Northampton Saints and look forward to working closely with the club to both activate the agreement and ensure Saints supporters have the opportunity to purchase tickets safely and securely from other supporters."
