Two-time Man of Steel Paul Sculthorpe MBE and six-time World Champion & Paralympic Gold Medallist Emma Wiggs MBE to speak at networking event

Rugby Expo will welcome guests to an exclusive networking reception on Tuesday 17 April, the eve of the main conference and exhibition.

Bringing together VIPs, sponsors, exhibitors, pro game delegates and senior club representatives, the event will offer attendees the chance to meet, network and share ideas in an informal, relaxed atmosphere before Rugby Expo 2018 officially opens its doors on Wednesday.

The evening will host rugby league legend and two-time Man of Steel Paul Sculthorpe, who will share stories from his time in the sport and his successful transition into business, plus his own insight into the pressing issues currently facing both codes.

Paul will be joined by Emma Wiggs, who overcame a life-changing illness at the age of 18 to go on to become Paralympic, World, European and British paracanoe champion. Attributing much of her success to her attitude and mental resolve, Emma spends time outside of the sport presenting to senior businessmen and women about overcoming challenges and applying her learning and experience in the workplace.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Paul Sculthorpe MBE
Paul's professional rugby league career spanned more than 15 years and included 247 appearances for St Helens – a side he also captained for four years – alongside six England and 26 Great Britain caps. The only player ever to win back-to-back Man of Steel awards, Paul has successfully transitioned from professional sport and is now shareholder/director of Rhino Rugby League and director of Evolve Brand Management. In 2013 Paul was awarded an MBE for his services to the sport and charity.

Emma Wiggs MBE

Emma grew up doing a variety of sports but at the age of 18, her mobility in both lower limbs was impaired after she contracted an unknown virus. After being discovered at a Team GB talent day in 2010, Emma competed in sitting volleyball in London 2012 before switching to paracanoe. Now six-time World Champion and reigning Paralympic, European and British Champion, Emma's achievements were recognised in the 2017 Queen's New Year Honours list, where she was awarded an MBE for services to canoeing.
