The Rugby Players' Association (RPA) today announced that leading international professional services consultancy, Rhead Group, have renewed their partnership and will continue as an Official Supplier to the RPA and sponsor of the England Player of the Year Award at the RPA Players' Awards 2015.
Rhead Group has built a strong track record of delivering large infrastructure programmes for the energy, power generation, transport and utility sectors with over 25 years' experience of managing major capital construction projects valued at over £5 billion per year. The Group's strong reputation and successful growth are a testament to the quality of their people and the continued support and trust that clients place with them.
Over the past 12 months Rhead Group have offered a number of bespoke workshops to members as part of the RPA Player Development Programme (PDP), which focused on the rugby skills that are highly valued in the workplace, such as leadership, personnel management, media and communications.
Nigel Curry, CEO of Rhead Group, said: "We are delighted to be an Official Supplier to the RPA and title sponsor of the England Player of the Year Award for the second year running. This sponsorship builds on our work with the RPA focusing on players' professional development after their rugby careers as many of the skills needed to win at rugby are identical to those required to construct major infrastructure projects. We have already held a Programme Management session with the Exeter Chiefs and hope to conduct many more during 2015."
Damian Hopley, Group CEO of the RPA, said: "It's great that we are continuing our valued relationship with Rhead Group. Rugby in England is reaching unprecedented levels of support and profile with the Rugby World Cup under 6 months away, and there are several players who have put their hand up for the England Player of the Year Award, so we look forward to revealing the winner on May 13th."
Following a thrilling climax to the RBS 6 Nations and, with the business end of the season approaching, the highlight of the domestic rugby union calendar is the annual RPA Players' Awards. These are the only awards voted for by the players themselves and brings together the biggest names in the sport to celebrate the achievements of the season.
Last year saw Harlequins' full-back Mike Brown crowned England Player of the Year and the 2015 shortlist will be announced in the coming weeks.
